Norwegian Epic – Is this ship coyote ugly?

Posted by Anita Dunham-Potter On March - 4 - 2009

Norwegian Cruise Line officially released renderings of its 153,000-ton Norwegian Epic. The 19-deck ship looks a bit odd in the renderings. They depict a top-heavy forward superstructure that rises several decks above the bridge, a pair of side-by-side funnels, a squarish stern and many decks of balconies, including two in the above-bridge area. Kind of reminds me of a show poodle (see image below).

You can visit NCL’s Norwegian Epic Web site for more details on the construction at STX France’s St. Nazaire shipyard.

My colleage Gene Sloan at USA TODAY has a poll and is asking for reader feedback on the ship’s design.  Tell him what you think!
