The fire was reported by the boat’s crew around 12:30 a.m. PST. The crew successfully evacuated 124 passengers in Maryhill, Washington. There were no serious injuries; however, 3 of the 53 crewmembers onboard suffered smoke inhalation.

According to a Majestic America Line spokesperson, the fire started while the ship was at mile 210 of the Columbia River. Crews contained the engine room fire and assessed the situation to make sure it didn’t catch fire again. The boat did lose power during the incident and a tug boat helped with beaching the vessel at Maryhill State Park. Passengers were taken to the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Wash. Majestic America Line says it is in the process of accessing the damage to the ship and whether it will affect upcoming voyages.
