Posted by Anita Dunham-Potter On November - 10 - 2007

From WAVY helicopter The Spirit of Nantucket was re-floated last night and is now being escorted by the Coast Guard to the Colonna Shipyard in nearby Norfolk.

The captain of the 207-foot vessel ran the ship aground Thursday after it suffered a foot-long gash in its hull and began to take on water. All 66 people on board were rescued safely with no injuries reported.

The Army Corps of Engineers also is working to clear away a large piece of debris — about 45-feet long — located in the water near where the incident occurred.
