Windjammer Barefoot Cruises The Miami Herald is reporting that Windjammer Barefoot Cruises has canceled cruises for the weeks of Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

These latest cancellations follow in the footsteps of cruises that have been canceled for the past two weeks.

Windjammer, struggling with financial problems, said in a statement on its Website Monday that it is looking to restart cruise operations in the Caribbean and Costa Rica “shortly.”

According the the Herald report, entities that control the company are working with ”several investor groups on a viable plan to continue the Windjammer tradition.” Windjammer did not elaborate on any plans.

Recently, a deal to prop up the ailing cruise line fell through, with purported rescuer Jerry Ceder suing Windjammer and the family trust that owns the business.

Ceder claimed in the lawsuit that he has advanced the firm $373,000 since July to pay its bills.

In August, various labor problems and financial difficulties stranded its ships at various ports.

In March Daniel Burke, the president of Windjammer, was found dead in a Miami hotel.
