I bet you didn’t know Carnival’s senior cruise director John Heald is a movie star (sort of). In 1985, John fittingly starred as the cruise director in a movie with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen dubbed “The Case Of The Mystery Cruise”. Check out this movie clip on YouTube where a dark haired and svelte John introduces the Olsen twins to an on deck crowd for a talent show.

After this movie it was all smooth sailing for the Olsen twins as they became billionaires like Micky Arison. For John, sadly, the seas to riches and Aston Martins were not so smooth. Alas, twenty five years later he’s still plying the waters of the world on the “Fun Ships” with the likes of Wally and Anita Banger, Lewis Nixon, and Big Al Ernst. All teasing aside, Happy Birthday John!! This blog’s for you!

Carnival cruise director may get TV sitcom

Posted by Anita Dunham-Potter On May - 28 - 2008

The show would be based on Heald’s widely popular blog.

”I think it has tremendous potential,” says Roger Blum, Carnival’s vice president of cruise programming. “Reading John’s blog is like another episode every day.”

Indeed, I hope John Heald gets to be the star of the show — how cool would that be?

Telly ho! Or is that Tally Ho? :)
