Piracy threat causes cruise line to abandon ship in Yemen

Last week’s pirate attack on Oceania Cruises’ Nautica has the cruise industry on edge. German cruise operator Hapag-Lloyd is so concerned about a pirate attack that it unloaded passengers from the MS Columbus in Hodeidah, Yemen. Port Everglades welcomes a pair of Queens

Cunard’s Queen Victoria sails by the QE2 at Port Everglades (Photo courtesy of Cunard)Queen Victoria made her first official call to Port Everglades on Wednesday, the same day Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) was in port. Both ships have been sailing in tandem since departing Southampton on January, 6. They last met in New York Harbor on Sunday, where they were joined by Queen Mary 2 (QM2). Queen Victoria is sailing its first world cruise, and QE2 its 26th and final world cruise before it leaves the fleet in November to become a hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Read for more…
