Last week, Carnival Corporation and their Honduran developer broke ground on their $50 million new cruise port. Located on the island’s southwest coast, Mahogany Bay, the new facility will be able to dock two post-Panamax ships simultaneously, and a 20-acre upland area will include a welcome center, shops, restaurants, bars and a transportation hub. Carnival is targeting a October 1, 2009 opening.
The facility will have similar attributes to Carnival’s two-year-old terminal at Grand Turk.
