Hurtigruten’s MS Fram (Photo courtesy of Hurtigruten) Hurtigruten’s Fram returned to service late last week following repairs in Ushuaia after the ship briefly lost power in Antarctica on December 28 and scraped against a glacier.

Hurtigruten says the Fram resumed its Antarctica program on January 10 after canceling its January 2 departure to allow time for repairs and testing.

The company said a malfunction in the electrical system that led to the power outage was repaired. Also, a lifeboat damaged by the impact with the glacier was removed and will be replaced.

Hurtigruten said interim lifeboat capacity has been secured in line with regulations.
