City officials in San Francisco say that if they could find funding, they would like to see a modern cruise ship terminal go in at piers 27 and 31 in the San Francisco Bay.
Shorenstein Properties will be presenting their $145 million proposal, which includes the terminal and an office building, to the city’s board of supervisors.
A Shorenstein official noted that the office building is “an economic engine” to cover costs.
A similar proposal by Mills Corporation was shot down in the past amid objections by waterfront advocates. Like that plan, Shorenstein’s proposal surpasses height requirements for the area which according to Shorenstein Properties is 8-feet over current regulations.
Before the supervisors get to look at the proposal, the plan will have to pass muster with the port commission.
