Seabourn Odyssey Carnival Corpation announced today that it is exercising its option for a third new ship for Seabourn Cruise Line. The ship will be built in Italy and is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2011. The price tag for the 32,000-ton, 450-passenger ships is $290 million.

Seabourn said the strong advance booking activity for Seabourn Odyssey, scheduled to debut in June 2009, led to the decision to order the third new ship. The second ship in the series is set to enter service in summer 2010.

Meanwhile,  Princess Cruises and Barclays Bank will be rolling out the Princess Rewards Visa Signature card, a co-branded credit card and rewards program that offers the opportunity to earn free cruises, on-board credits and discounts on cruise fares, air travel or amenities.

Users earn two points for every dollar spent on Princess purchases, and one point on other purchases. Rewards start at 2,000 points. Free cruises begin at 150,000 points, with no blackout dates. Applications for the no-annual-fee card will be accepted starting Dec. 10 at www.princessvisa.com.
