Off to the Celebrity Equinox christening

Silversea floats its Spirit

silverspiritfloatSilversea Cruises’ newest ship, Silver Spirit, has just been “floated out” from dry dock to wet dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Over the coming months, the newbuild will undergo its final outfitting works and be ready for delivery in December.

MS Balmoral becomes floating toy in Bay of Biscay

Pimentel quits as CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club

SeaDream Yacht ClubLarry Pimentel resigned as CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club on January 2 over disagreements with the direction the company is taking. Pimentel would not elaborate on the disagreements, and said that he did not have any solidified plans for what he would do next. Atle Brynestad, SeaDream’s owner and chairman, replaced Pimentel as SeaDream’s CEO. Pimentel and Brynestad co-launched SeaDream in 2002 after Pimentel stepped down as president and CEO of Cunard Line.

Silversea’s Prince Albert II dedicated in Monaco

Prince Albert II of Monaco was the guest of honor at the dedication of Silversea Cruises’ new expedition ship Prince Albert II in Monte Carlo. The vessel was the former World Discoverer that was acquired by Silversea last fall. The ship was upgraded and refurbished in Italy to Silversea’s ultra-luxury standards. Read for more…
